Project summary: INVESTIGATION PROCESS PLANNING MODEL Objective: The objective of this project is to identify and document the major steps required to develop and bring an investigation plan to a state of readiness for action. This ongoing study is expected to provide guidance for the development, modification and assessment of investigation programs. Status: The investigation of the planning process progressed to the point where a model, with revisions through 1999 now exists in the general form of a General Investigation Program Readiness Tree. This model formed the basis for a chapter in the book Handbook of Industrial Automation, published by Marcel Dekker, New York, released June 2000. Reprints of the chapter can be requested from the author. The model is displayed below. Observations of investigation program development planning experiences are continuing.
